More than anything, you want to feel like you have life figured out.
To know that the decisions you make are going to take you down the right path and that the different areas of your life are going to fall into place.
You know that your career has a big impact on your relationships and your social life, but you’re struggling to move forward in a way that’s positive and healthy and not just a replica of your same dysfunctional patterns. You’re ready to invest in long-lasting change.
For a long time, you’ve daydreamed about creating a different life. One where you’re far away from the people, places, and events that have caused you pain and one where you feel like a totally different person. You have goals for your life and envision yourself standing on your own and building meaningful relationships with others. And you thought your new career was going to be a big part of that.
But, lately, every step forward you take feels like it is met with several steps back. You’ve been meeting people and connecting in ways you thought were more substantial, but the relationships aren’t developing into anything important. What’s more, your boss and co-workers never seem to notice how hard you work. Instead, they keep bringing up everything you’re doing wrong.
Your sense of failure is starting to bring you down. You’ve tried breaking out of old routines and bad habits, but after what feels like the zillionth time choosing the wrong love interest, the wrong friends, and the wrong ambitions, you kind of just gave up.
It seems like no matter what decision you make, it’s the wrong one.
A lot of the time you feel out of touch with who you are and what you really want. You’re frustrated by the fact that history just seems to repeat itself, so you’ve stopped trying to steer your life in any kind of different direction. Now it’s as if you’re just destined to be unhappy.
You truly want more out of your career and your connections with others. But you have no idea how to meet people who are different than those you’ve already tried to connect with. Plus, you’re not sure you can trust yourself to pick the right people to spend time with in the first place. You never imagined making a life for yourself and building a career would be so hard. And you certainly didn’t expect you’d be a full-grown adult having the exact same problems you had as a kid.

The Young Professionals Counseling Process
Therapy for Young Professionals is intended to help you get to know yourself, so you can determine the career and relationship paths that are right for you. Together, you and I will use the therapeutic relationship to dive beneath the surface of your life and work to clarify what is happening on an internal level to cause your unhappiness. You will work to understand the ways your past habits are impacting your present relationships and how to break out of unhelpful patterns.
The first step is a free 30-minute consult to make sure we are a good fit for working together. If either of us has reason to believe we would not work well together, I will work with you to identify some therapists who might be a better fit. If we do decide to work together, we will schedule a 90-minute initial assessment and 50-minute weekly or bi-weekly teletherapy sessions.
Before that first session, you will be invited to create a personal online portal where you will have access to all of your clinical forms as well as the ability to set up payment information. You will need to complete these forms and submit them before you begin therapy.
Sessions are held online using Zoom/SecureVideo software and you will need reliable internet to participate. Typically, counseling continues for several weeks or months, but the duration of your time in therapy will depend on the complexity of your concerns.
Here’s what to expect:
Each session is designed to capitalize on our therapeutic relationship to gain insight into the repetitive problematic patterns that have been troubling you thus, ensuring the most healing possible. Together, you and I will connect in a virtual therapeutic space with the goal of helping you reflect on the person you are and the person you want to be.

Who Benefits Most from Counseling for Young Professionals
Therapy for Young Professionals is best for those who have recently graduated from college or graduate school and are fully independent for the first time.
Often, during this stage of life, you notice yourself making the same mistakes or repeating the unhelpful and unhealthy patterns from when you were younger. Counseling helps you reflect on the situations in your life and the role you play in them, so you can gain insight into the way your habits and experiences are continuing to affect who you are.
You will benefit from Young Professionals Counseling if:
- You’ve accomplished so much but feel like your life still looks the same as it did in high school and college
- You are disappointed that adulthood doesn’t meet your expectations
- Your boss or coworkers complain that your behaviors are problematic and keeping you from succeeding at work
- You complain about the same circumstances in your life, but you don’t know how to make them better
- You’ve tried to make changes yourself, but you feel like they never last and that you’re never going to be the type of person you want to be
There are certain situations where you might not be ready for counseling sessions with me. These situations include, but are not limited to:
- Difficulty self-reflecting and taking ownership of your experiences
- A desire for a solutions-based approach that does not explore your past of your experiences
- A lack of awareness of your role in your relationships with others
If you are currently experiencing any of these issues, I can provide you with appropriate referrals for your level of care.
